Coyote Campground is a small Forest Service site in the Wallowa Valley Ranger District of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest in eastern Oregon. It sits in open pine forest and grassland, and it offers six tent and trailer sites. Camping is the main draw, with summer and fall hunting season the busiest times, and picnicking is also an option. The most comfortable months are late summer and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Joseph show July and August highs around 80°F, while September cools to about 71°F with lows near 43°F. That station sits roughly 34 miles away and about 870 feet lower, so temperatures at the campground run cooler. Dougherty Campground is about 4 miles away, and Basin Creek Trail and Joseph Creek are both about 4 miles off. Vigne Campground lies about 8 miles away.
