Blackberry (campground & Boating)

Blackberry Campground sits on a heavily wooded bluff overlooking the Alsea River in the Central Coast Ranger District-ODNRA of Siuslaw National Forest in Oregon. The Forest Service manages the land, and the nearest town is Waldport, about 10 miles away. The campground has 32 sites, some of which look out over the river and others beside a large, manicured grassy field. Each site has a campfire ring and picnic table, and parking spurs are paved. Vault toilets are the only restrooms. There is no dump station or electric hookups on site, and the nearest dump station is in Waldport. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 75 to 76°F with only four or five wet days a month, while winter months bring highs in the mid-40s and rain on 20 or more days. The Alsea River is a favorite for drift boating, and a boat ramp is on site. Anglers target Coho and Chinook salmon and Steelhead trout, and crawfishing is also popular. Swimming in the river is a summer activity, and the area is known for elk hunting, making the campground a good base for hunting parties. Nearby, Riveredge Campground is about 1.7 miles away, and Scott Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 2.3 miles off. Horse Creek Trail South is about 6.1 miles away, and Fall Creek, another paddling route, is about 6.7 miles away.
