The Hanger is a bouldering area in Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio, managed by the National Park Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing areas, with Midstream, Downstream and Chippewa Creek all about 0.1 mile away, and Upstream about 0.2 mile off. The name comes from the bouldering itself, and the routes here range from V1 to V12-13, with the Hanger Project listed as an open project at the top end. The climbing is all bouldering, and the area's 10 routes span a wide range of grades. The easiest is Illusions of Bouldering at V1, and the hardest is the Hanger Project at V12-13. Hang line is a V7 boulder with a first ascent by Jeremy Gerksey, and No Chomos is a V7-8 boulder with a first ascent by Jeremy Gursky. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Cleveland show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, while winter brings frequent snow days. Hikers can pair a session on the boulders with the Hemlock Trail or the Wildflower Loop Trail, both about 0.2 mile away.
