Furnace Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Lake Hope State Park in Ohio, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. The trail is about 1.4 miles long, with a low point of 716 feet and a high of 749 feet, so the total elevation gain is about 22 feet. It makes a quick addition to a day spent exploring the park's network of trails. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Athens show May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year.
