The Dump (Boulders) climbing area sits within the Grandfather Ranger District of the National Forests in North Carolina, managed by the Forest Service. It is a bouldering spot, with the Dump (Routes) and Black Flag Boulder climbing areas both about a tenth of a mile away. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Blowing Rock weather station put July highs around 77°F and lows near 60°F, while winter highs stay in the low to mid 40s. For time off the rocks, the Tanawha Trail lies less than a mile away and the Daniel Boone Scout Trail about a mile and a half off. Julian Price Memorial Park Campground is roughly 3.3 miles away for an overnight stay.
