Classic Boulder is a bouldering area on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, within the Grandfather Ranger District of the National Forests in North Carolina. The National Park Service manages the land, and there is no fee to visit. The climbing area sits among a cluster of boulders and trails. Blowing Rock Boulders is about 0.4 miles away, and Maddox Boulder is about 0.7 miles away. The China Creek Trail starts about 0.3 miles off, and the Figure Eight Trail is about 0.6 miles away. The area has five bouldering routes, all rated on the V scale. The easiest are Classic Arete (Stand) at V1-2 and The Horn at V2, and the hardest is Classic Arete at V6. The median grade is V4. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Blowing Rock run to highs around 77°F in July and lows near 60°F, while winter highs stay in the low 40s.
