About this water
The New River near Todd in Ashe County is one of the oldest rivers in North America and a designated National Scenic River. This section offers excellent smallmouth bass fishing along with muskellunge and various panfish in a scenic pastoral setting. Canoe and kayak access makes float fishing popular, and wade anglers find productive riffles and pools throughout.
