Jones Beach State Park is a 6,048-acre state park in New York, about 3.7 miles from the town of Point Lookout. It is managed by the state park agency. Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable stretch for a visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Wantagh Cedar Creek show highs around 70°F in May and 78°F in September, with July highs near 85°F. Several other outings sit within a short drive. The South Shore Blueway, a canoeing route, is about 4.5 miles away.
