Van Hoevenberg Trail is a 2-mile out-and-back cross-country ski route on the Adirondak Loj, a non-governmental land unit in New York. The trail rises from about 2,119 feet to a high point of 2,284 feet, with a total elevation gain of 291 feet over the course of the trip. The steepest stretch comes early, at about 0.14 miles from the start, where the grade reaches 7%. Winter is the natural season for this trail. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show January highs around 23°F with lows near 6°F, while March runs a bit milder, with highs around 36°F. That station sits roughly 400 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the higher ground run a little cooler. The trail sits among a cluster of cross-country ski routes. The Southeast Corner Loop and Southeast Corner Bypass are each about 0.1 mile away, and the Mr. Van Ski Trail is about 0.2 mile off. Outlet Brook Loop is about 0.4 mile away.
