Lake Colden Ski Trail is a cross-country ski route in the High Peaks Wilderness of New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. It sits about half a mile from the Lake Colden Trail and Mount Colden Trail, and the whole area is a hub of hiking and climbing in the High Peaks. The trail is an out-and-back of about 1.1 miles, with almost no elevation gain. The start and finish sit at roughly 2,765 feet, and the route stays nearly flat, with a slight rise and fall of about 50 feet each way. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.48 miles in, with a grade of about 2%. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show January highs around 23°F with lows near 6°F, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Summer is mild, with July highs around 74°F. The Lake Colden Trail and Mount Colden Trail are both about 0.2 miles away, and the Mount Marcy Trail is about 0.6 miles off.
