Old MacIntyre Trail is a short, easy cross-country ski route in New York's High Peaks Wilderness, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The trail is about half a mile long and rises roughly 120 feet from its low point of 2,209 feet to a high of 2,341 feet. It is an out-and-back, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.4 miles in, with a 7% grade. Winter is the natural season for this trail. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Lake Placid show January highs around 23°F with lows near 6°F, while July highs reach about 74°F. That station sits roughly 450 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The Algonquin Trail starts just 0.1 mile away, and the Old Marcy Dam Trail and Fangorn Forest are both within half a mile. For climbing, Wright Peak is about 1.4 miles off.
