Old Croton Aqueduct Trail is a short, easy mountain biking route in Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is an out-and-back that covers about 3 miles, with a low point of 147 feet and a high of 171 feet. The climb is gentle, with a one-way gain of 12 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.97 miles, where the grade reaches 12 percent. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. That station sits roughly 500 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler. The Croton River, about 0.7 miles away, offers canoeing, and the Croton Gorge Trail is a hike about 0.9 miles off. The Croton RiverWalk and Cliffdale Loop are both about 1.2 miles away.
