Yellow Trail is an easy, short hike on town land in the Town of Somers, New York. The route is an out-and-back that covers about 0.6 miles, with a round-trip elevation gain of about 122 feet. The high point reaches roughly 615 feet, and the steepest stretch comes near the middle of the trail, with a grade of about 7%. The town park land makes it a local outing, and the trail's brevity makes it easy to fold into a longer day on nearby routes. The Red Trail lies just 0.1 mile away, and the Shrubland Loop and Red and White Trail are both within about 3 miles. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 74°F, with July peaking near 83°F. The trip takes about half an hour, so plan on a quick walk rather than a full day on the trail.
