Locktender's Trail is a short, easy hike in New York, managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and set about 0.6 miles from the town of Montezuma. The trail is a point-to-point route of about 0.3 miles, with a total elevation gain of 11 feet and a loss of 48 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.13 miles in, with a grade of about 4 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Auburn, NY, show July highs around 81°F with lows near 60°F, while winter highs stay in the low 30s.
