Connery Pond Trail is a 3.25-mile moderate hike in the Saranac Lakes Wild Forest in New York, managed by the State Department of Conservation. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 1.4 miles. The total elevation gain is 324 feet, and the route ends lower than it starts, with a total loss of 550 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lake Placid show July highs around 74°F with lows near 54°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s. The SOA Whiteface Landing Trail starts just 0.1 mile away. Moss Cliff and Notch Mountain, both climbing areas, are about 2 miles off, and the West Branch Ausable River offers fishing roughly 4.6 miles away.
