Bluebird Trail is a short, easy hike in Storm King State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is about 0.6 miles long, and it rises steadily from a starting point around 835 feet to a high of about 1,236 feet, with a total gain of 445 feet. The climb is steady, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.4 miles in, where the grade reaches 25%. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at West Point put May highs around 72°F and September highs around 76°F, while July averages about 85°F. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. Stillman Trail and Howell Trail both lie within a third of a mile, and Storm King Mountain, a climbing area, is about 0.4 miles away. Butter Hill Trail is a similar distance.
