Beech Trail is a 3.65-mile hike in Harriman State Park in New York, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is rated easy and runs from a high point of about 1,150 feet to a low of about 715 feet, with a total elevation gain of 489 feet. The route is a point-to-point path, and the steepest stretch comes at about 3 miles in, where the grade reaches 14 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. That station sits roughly 480 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the higher ground run cooler. The trail starts within a tenth of a mile of the Harriman State Park climbing area. Old Turnpike Trail, Rockhouse Mountain and Dunning Trail all lie within about a mile and a half.
