It sits among a cluster of other climbing areas, with Checkerboard Wall and Nauty Boulders each about 0.4 miles away and the Felsenmeer Area about half a mile off. The climbing here is all trad, with eight routes spread across the area. The grades run from 5.7 to 5.9, with the easiest being Anything but Sun at 5.7 and the hardest Fire Escape at 5.9. The routes are named with a mix of straightforward and slightly more technical options, including Stairs at 5.7+ and Backdoor at 5.8. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Las Cruces show April highs around 77°F and October highs around 77°F, while July and August average highs near 94°F with more wet days. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the climbing area, so temperatures at Sugar Bowl run cooler.
