North Rabbit Ear is a traditional climbing area in the Organ Mountains Wilderness of southern New Mexico, on Bureau of Land Management land within the Las Cruces District Office. The surrounding wilderness and the BLM district office both sit in the area, and the climbing here is part of a cluster of nearby crags, including Middle Rabbit Ear, South Rabbit Ear and the Fin, all within a few tenths of a mile. The area holds 17 traditional routes, with grades ranging from 5.3 to 5.11-. The median is about 5.6, so the crags suit climbers looking for a range of options from easy to challenging. Among the named routes are the South Face Traverse (5.3), Parabola (5.5) and Rotten Chimney (5.6), and the hardest is Sleight of Hand at 5.11-. Other climbing areas lie close by: Middle Rabbit Ear and South Rabbit Ear are each about 0.2 miles away, and the broader Rabbit Ears Area is about 0.2 miles off. For a change from climbing, Aguirre Spring Recreation Area and Campground is about 1.3 miles away, and the Baylor Canyon Pass hike is about a mile out.
