South Side, Big Enchilada is a climbing area in New Mexico on land managed by the Department of Energy. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with East Side, Big Enchilada and Tortilla Flats each about 0.1 mile away, and The Crack House (aka Estante Edge) about 0.2 mile off. The area is a hub of mixed climbing, with 27 routes in total, and the grades run from 5.7 up to 5.12-. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and September. At a nearby weather station in Santa Fe, May averages highs around 76°F and lows near 43°F, while September runs about 80°F by day and 49°F at night. July and August are hotter and wetter, with highs in the upper 80s and about 10 wet days a month. Several other climbing areas and trails lie close by.
