Mordor is a climbing area in the Espanola Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of climbing sectors, with the Middle Earth Sector, Grotto Right (West Side) and Top of the Grotto (Ojo and Evil Paradise Sectors) all about 0.1 mile away. The area has two routes, one sport and one trad, with grades ranging from 5.10b to 5.11-. Night Goat is the sport route at 5.10b, and Unnamed Crack is the trad route at 5.11-. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Espanola show May highs around 78°F and October highs around 70°F, while July highs reach about 91°F. For a change from the rock, the El Camino Real Historic Route Trail is about half a mile away, and Soda Springs is about 1.4 miles off.
