Pecos River Canyon is a climbing area in western New Mexico, within the Pecos-Las Vegas Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest. It also lies inside the Bert Clancy Fishing Area (Pecos Estates), and the land is managed by State Fish and Wildlife. Two other climbing areas sit right next door: The Rim of the World and The Bleachers, each about a tenth of a mile away. The climbing here mixes bouldering and trad routes. There are six routes in total, with four boulders and two trad climbs. Grades run from 5.9 to 5.12c/d on the YDS scale and from V1 to V3 on the V scale. Adeled Evangelical, a trad route, is rated 5.9, and the boulder 7% Solution is rated 5.12c/d. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. At a nearby weather station, typical averages show May highs around 73°F and October highs around 67°F, while July and August bring the most wet days of the year. Field Tract Campground is about a mile away and Links Tract Campground about 4 miles. Holy Ghost is a hike roughly 5 miles off, and the Pecos River offers fishing about 5 miles away.
