The Gallup Area climbing area lies within the Gallup region of western New Mexico, on land managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. It falls within the Navajo Region Fire and Aviation Management unit and is set among the trails and boulders that surround Gallup. For a climber, the area's one listed route is Regular Route, a trad climb graded at 5.9 on the YDS scale. That makes it a single line to aim for here, and the surrounding trails give plenty of reason to stay on foot. Spring and fall bring the most comfortable temperatures. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Gallup run from highs of 65°F in April to 79°F in September, while July and August average highs in the upper 80s and bring the most wet days of the year. Church Rock Loop is just 0.3 miles away, and Pyramid Rock Trail is 0.9 miles off. Todd's Boulders and The Barn Yard, both climbing areas, sit within about 6 miles.
