East Side, Big Enchilada is a climbing area in New Mexico on land managed by the Department of Energy. It sits among a cluster of climbing spots, with South Side, Big Enchilada and Tortilla Flats each about 0.1 mile away, and The Crack House (aka Estante Edge) about 0.2 mile off. The area is a compact hub of routes, with several climbing areas and trails within a short distance of one another. The climbing here is a mix of styles, with 11 routes in total. Seven are mixed, two are sport and two are trad. Grades run from 5.8 up to 5.11, with Route 7 at 5.11a and Huevos Verdes at 5.11. The Big Enchilada (Left Crack) is a mixed route at 5.9+. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Santa Fe show May highs around 76°F and October highs around 68°F, while July and August bring highs near 88°F and about 10 wet days a month. The Estante Rim Trail and Estante trail are both about 0.3 mile away, and the Ruin Mesa Trail is about 0.6 mile off. Potrillo Cliffs, a climbing area, is about half a mile away.
