Sandia Cave Trail (72) is a short, easy out-and-back hike in the Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest in New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 0.94 miles long, with a low point of 7,035 feet and a high of 7,166 feet, and it gains about 111 feet of elevation. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Sandia Park weather station, at a similar elevation, show May highs around 73°F and September highs around 77°F, with lows in the 40s. The trail sits right next to several climbing areas, including The Terrace and Right, each about 0.1 mile away, and Center and Possum Junction, each about 0.2 mile away. The North Mystery Trail is about 0.4 mile off, and the Palo Duro Canyon Trail is about 0.5 mile away.
