Rito Quemado Trail (157) is a short, easy loop in the Espanola Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest in northern New Mexico, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is about 0.4 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 80 feet, and it makes a quick addition to a day spent exploring the surrounding area. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June through September, when typical averages from the nearby Gascon weather station run from highs around 75°F in June to about 69°F in September. Winter is cold, with January highs near 44°F and several snowy days each month from December through March. Borrego Mesa campground is about 1.5 miles away, and the Rio Medio and Rio Molino hikes are both within 2 miles. Truchas Peak, about 2.8 miles off, offers a longer outing in the same general area.
