Frying Pan Spring Trail is an easy hike on Bureau of Land Management land in the Las Cruces District Office, about 1.36 miles long and with a one-way climb of 240 feet. The out-and-back route starts at a low point of about 4,899 feet and reaches a high of about 5,146 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Faywood weather station show April highs around 75°F and October highs around 76°F, while June and July average highs near 91°F and bring more wet days. The Butterfield Trail lies just 0.4 miles away, and the Cdt Jrp and Cdt trails are within about 3 miles. Cookes Peak Trail is roughly 5.9 miles off.
