Eastern Nevada is a climbing area in Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, within the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land here, and the area sits in the high country of eastern Nevada, where several routes offer a range of climbing styles. The climbing here runs from easy sport and trad to alpine and even ice. There are eight routes in all, with the easiest at 5.6 and the hardest at 5.10. Among them are Trout Slayer, a trad route at 5.6, and Stella by Starlight, an alpine climb at 5.8. The NE Couloir, also known as The Wheel Deal, is an ice route at 5.6. The boulderers can try the V2 boulder problems. The most comfortable months are late spring and early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Ruby Lake run from highs around 66°F in May to 77°F in September, with winter bringing highs near 39°F and regular snow from December through March. The Indian Creek hike starts about 0.1 mile away, and the Indian 1 and North 2 mountain biking trails are within a mile. Harrison Pass, another climbing area, is about 3.8 miles off.
