Petroglyph Trail is an easy out-and-back hike on Bureau of Land Management land in Nevada's Red Rock/Sloan Field Office, about 4.4 miles long with a total elevation gain of 377 feet. The route starts at a low point of 2,855 feet and reaches a high of 3,249 feet. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show April highs around 80°F and October highs around 82°F, while July highs average about 106°F. That station sits roughly 1,000 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The Sloan 101 Trail begins just 0.1 mile away, and the Cowboy Trail and Nevada Power Trail are both within about 2 miles. For mountain biking, the Madeira Canyon Trail is about 2.6 miles off.
