Desert Creek Campground is a remote Forest Service site in Nevada's Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, within the Bridgeport Ranger District. It sits along Desert Creek, where Jeffrey and Lodgepole pines offer partial shade. The site is set up for a self-sufficient stay, with no fees required, and it works as a base for fishing, hiking and off-highway vehicle travel. Fishing is one of the main draws, with stocked rainbow, brown and brook trout in the creek. ATV riders can explore miles of backroads in the area, and four-wheel drive is not needed. However, creek crossings are not recommended in early or late summer. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from the Topaz Lake weather station, about 13 miles away, show May highs near 72°F and October highs near 70°F, while July and August average around 90°F. Nearby hikes include Rickey Canyon, about 3 miles away, and Dry Lake West and Upper Dry Lake, both within 5 miles. Blackwell Canyon, across the California line, is about 6 miles off.
