Angel Creek Campground sits on the grassy foothills of the East Humboldt Mountain Range, about eight miles southwest of Wells, Nevada, at an elevation of 6,200 feet. It is part of the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The campground is a base for exploring the surrounding area, and visitors can make the short drive to Angel Lake for canoeing and fishing. The site has vault toilets, and a fee is charged for stays. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Wells show July highs around 88°F with lows near 50°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. That station sits roughly 1,100 feet lower than the campground, so temperatures here run cooler. Several other destinations lie within a few miles. Smith Lake Trail and Smith Lake are both about 1.3 miles away, Angel Lake Campground is about 1.6 miles off, and Angel Lake offers fishing about 1.7 miles away.
