Swift Creek is a hard hike in the Sula Ranger District of Montana's Bitterroot National Forest, about 7.6 miles long and rising from 5,397 feet to 7,883 feet. The trail is an out-and-back with a total elevation gain of 2,488 feet, and the Forest Service manages the land. The trailhead is at Swift Creek Trailhead, and the route is natural-surfaced. Meadow Creek lies about half a mile away, and Bugle Creek is about 1.2 miles off. For an overnight stay, McCart Lookout and Jennings Camp Campground are both within about 2.6 miles. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically July and August, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run in the low to mid 70s °F. Winter brings cold, with typical January averages around 10°F.
