Maynard Loge Nature Conserv. is a short, easy loop hike on the Lolo National Forest in western Montana, about 0.6 miles long with a total elevation gain of 7 feet. The route sits in a natural surface trail at roughly 2,640 feet and is a simple outing to fit into a longer day in the forest. The trail is a loop, so the total gain of 7 feet is for the whole trip. It is an easy walk with no significant climbs, making it a natural addition to a visit to the surrounding area. The Maynard Loge Day Use Area serves as the parking area, and the trail is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs in the mid-80s with lows in the mid-40s, while winter highs stay in the 30s. The station sits at nearly the same elevation as the trail. Rte of the Olympian lies about 0.8 miles away, and Boyd Mountain is about 2.5 miles off. Valach and Dry Creek Divide are both within 3.5 miles. For an overnight stay, Sloway Campground is about 6 miles away.
