Spire Rock Campground sits in Gallatin Canyon on the Bozeman Ranger District of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, about 26 miles south of Bozeman, Montana. The Forest Service manages the land. The site has vault toilets, and a fee is charged for stays. It's a simple base for exploring the canyon, with several other destinations within a short drive. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 78°F with lows near 41°F, while winter highs stay in the 20s and 30s. Garnet Mountain Fire Lookout is about a mile away, and Storm Castle Mtn and the Canine Cliffs climbing area are both within about 1.4 miles. The Gallatin River offers fishing about 2.2 miles off.
