Lodgepole Campground sits along the Pioneer Scenic Byway (NFSR 73) south of Wise River, Montana, on the Wisdom Ranger District of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the campground is set up for a straightforward stop with paved roads and paved trailer sites. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table and bear box for food storage, and two ADA accessible vault toilets serve the grounds. A handpump provides potable water. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from the nearby Wisdom weather station put July highs around 78°F with lows near 38°F, and the station sits well below the campground, so expect temperatures up high to run cooler. Winters are cold, with January highs in the mid-20s. Several other spots are close by. Boulder Creek is a hike about half a mile away, and Willow Campground and Boulder Creek Campground are both within a mile. The Wise River, a canoeing and paddling spot, lies about 5 miles out.
