About

Chippewa Falls is a waterfall in the Bessemer Ranger District of Michigan's Ottawa National Forest, about 8.5 miles from the town of Bessemer. It sits at roughly 1,080 feet of elevation. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical July highs reach about 77°F with lows near 55°F, based on averages from a nearby weather station at Ironwood. That station sits about 440 feet higher than the falls, so temperatures at the waterfall may run slightly warmer. Several other spots lie within a few miles. Conglomerate Falls and Potowatomi Falls are both hikes close by, and the Black River offers fishing about 3 miles away. For an overnight stay, Black River Harbor Campground is about 5 miles off.
