Melrose Rock is a summit in Massachusetts, about a mile from the town of Melrose. It sits among a cluster of trails and climbing spots, making it an easy addition to a short outing close to town. The most comfortable stretch for a visit runs from late spring through early fall. At a nearby weather station in Reading, typical averages reach highs around 70°F in May and 75°F in September. Midsummer is warmer, with July highs typically in the mid-80s. Winter brings regular snow days from December through March, so expect cold conditions in those months. Several routes start right around the summit. White Rock Path is just 0.2 miles away, and Cross Fells Trail and Rock Circuit Trail are both within half a mile. Climbers can head to Crag 6 aka Black Rock, also about 0.4 miles off.
