Chicken Run is a short, out-and-back cross-country ski route in Massachusetts, about 1.7 miles from South Chelmsford. The trail is only about 0.4 miles long, with a total climb of 46 feet, and it is rated hard. The route is flat for most of the way, with the steepest stretch at about 0.16 miles, where the grade reaches 4 percent. Winter is the natural season for this ski route. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Lowell show January highs around 34°F and lows near 16°F, with February slightly warmer at about 37°F. The station sits about 78 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler.
