Lower Walls is a climbing area in Massachusetts, about half a mile from the town of Chestnut Hill. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots, including Lower Wall, Middle, Lower Wall, Right and Main Alcove Wall, all within about a tenth of a mile. That makes it easy to pair with other routes in the same area. The climbing here is mostly trad and top rope, with a single boulder problem. Of the 16 routes, the easiest is Old Tree at 5.2 and the hardest is Shortcake at 5.8. The median grade is 5.5, so the area works well for climbers of a range of abilities. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jamaica Plain show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 75°F, with July peaking near 85°F. Beyond the climbing, the Charles River Greenway is about 3.5 miles away, and the Sudbury Aqueduct Trail, a mountain biking route, is about 3.6 miles off.
