Dome Trail is a mountain biking route in Massachusetts, set within the Manchester Ranger District of the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is a hard ride, with a total elevation gain of about 1,167 feet over a 3.3-mile out-and-back route. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.87 miles in, where the grade reaches 19 percent. The trail starts at an elevation of about 1,068 feet and climbs to a high point of 2,163 feet. That makes it a serious ride, and riders should plan for a full day on the trail. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Pownal, Vermont, run to highs around 81°F in July, though that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. Winters are cold, with January highs near 31°F. Several other outings lie close by. Broad Brook and Oak Loop are hikes within half a mile, and Hillside Trail is about 0.6 miles away. Clark Crag, a climbing area, is roughly 3.7 miles off.
