Rock Creek Trail is a short, easy mountain biking route in Maryland, about 0.4 miles from the community of Connecticut Avenue Hills. The trail is an out-and-back, roughly 0.8 miles long, with a total climb of about 67 feet and a steepest grade of about 5% near the start. It's a low-commitment ride, and the route is back-loaded, so the climb comes in the second half of the trip. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Rockville show May highs around 74°F and October highs around 66°F, while July averages about 87°F. Several other trails sit close by. The Matthew Henson Trail is about a mile away, and the Bethesda Trolley Trail is about 1.4 miles off. Paddlers can head to the Northwest Branch Anacostia River, about 4.3 miles away, and climbers will find the South Bank - Roof Area about 4.6 miles from the trail.
