Lakeside Trail is a cross-country ski route in Maine, set within The Roaches CE, a land unit managed by a non-governmental organization. The trail is about 2.75 miles long, and the round trip covers roughly 5.5 miles with a total elevation gain and loss of about 365 feet each. The route is an out-and-back, and the steepest stretch comes at about half a mile in, with an 8% grade. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Greenville show January highs around 23°F with lows near 5°F, while February runs about the same. That station sits roughly 330 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the route run a little cooler. Several other trails lie close by. Dr. Wiggles Trail and Emmit Brook Trail are both within a third of a mile, and Hinckley Cove Trail is about 0.3 miles away. Shaw Mountain, a hike, is about 0.7 miles off.
