Inferno is a mountain biking route in the Carrabassett Valley of Maine, managed by State Park and Recreation. The trail is a short out-and-back, under half a mile in each direction, with a total climb of about 92 feet. It's rated moderate and carries a blue square rating, which makes it a good fit for intermediate riders looking to build technical skills on Maine's rocky and rooty terrain. The trail combines technical sections with flowing segments across varied surfaces. The steepest stretch, about 5%, comes roughly 0.37 miles from the start, and the route is short enough to repeat for practice. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from the nearby Long Falls Dam weather station show July highs around 77°F and lows near 55°F, and the station sits several hundred feet lower than the trail, so temperatures up high run cooler. East Branch and West Branch, cross-country ski trails, lie within a third of a mile. Widowmaker and Oh My Gosh Loop, two other mountain biking routes, are about 0.6 miles away.
