Coal Wall is a climbing area in Kentucky, within the Clinch Ranger District of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forest and inside Breaks Interstate Park. It sits just across the state line from Virginia, and the nearby Breaks Interstate Park weather station, about 2 miles away, records typical averages that make fall and spring the most comfortable times to visit. The climbing runs from 5.10 to 5.11c, with seven routes on the wall. Sport, mixed and trad styles are all represented, and most of the routes are rated 5.10. Coal Wall 7 and Black Lung are the two hardest, with the latter at 5.11c. Pool Point, a climbing area, is just 0.2 miles away, and the Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail's Birch Knob Section is 0.3 miles off.
