Pictured Rocks is a climbing area in northwest Iowa, about half a mile from the town of Springhole. It sits among a cluster of named climbing spots, so it works well as a base for exploring several areas close together. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Cascade weather station show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 75°F, with July peaking near 83°F. Several climbing areas lie within a short distance. A Wall, Comic Gallery and Wild Iowa Wall are each about 0.1 mile away, and Shiprock is about 0.1 mile off. Windy Point is roughly 0.6 mile away.
