Main Pool is a climbing area in the Hidden Springs Ranger District of Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of other climbing spots and trails, so it works well as a stop in a day of exploring the surrounding area. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Dixon Springs show October highs around 71°F with lows near 46°F, and May highs around 77°F. July and August run hotter, with typical highs in the upper 80s. Wizard Wall, North Falls and The Doors are all climbing areas about 0.1 mile away, and Middle Falls is a hike at a similar distance. For an overnight stay, Redbud Campground at Bell Smith Springs is about 1.8 miles off.
