Tropical is a bouldering area in Idaho, about 3 miles from the town of Portneuf. It sits alongside the Main Section and South climbing areas, all within a tenth of a mile, and is a compact cluster of boulder problems rather than a long route. The climbing here is all bouldering, with five routes spread across the V0 to V6-7 range. The easiest are Bell Pepper and Paradise, both V0, and the hardest is Get on the Boat!, a V6-7 boulder. Pineapple Dreams is a V3, and Blue Juice is a V2 with a first ascent by Andrew Gerald Thaller. Summer is the warmest time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Pocatello show July highs around 91°F and lows near 59°F, while September cools to highs around 78°F. Winter is cold, with January highs near 36°F and several snowy days each month from December through February. For a walk nearby, the Portneuf River Greenbelt Path is about half a mile away, and the Rim Trail is roughly 2.6 miles off. Mink Creek Group Site Campground, about 7 miles away, offers a place to stay.
