The Fringe is a climbing area in Idaho on Bureau of Land Management land within the Four Rivers Field Office. It sits among several other climbing areas, including The New Fringe, Populace Wall and Mid Cliffs, all about 0.1 mile away. The climbing here is a mix of trad and sport routes, with seven routes in total. Trad routes make up five of them, and sport routes two. The YDS grades run from 5.7 to 5.11c, with the hardest being Jim Fall Memorial at 5.11b and The Remnant at 5.11c. Poodle Boy is a sport route at 5.10a. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show May highs around 74°F and September highs around 81°F, while July and August average in the low 90s. The Historic Oregon Trail and the Joel Palmer Trail are both within half a mile. The Boise River offers fishing about 3.3 miles away, and Robie Creek Park Group Shelter is a camping option about 7.9 miles off.
