Typical high / low (°F) and days with rain or snow, 1991–2020. Measured at Boise Air Terminal, ID, 5.2 mi away at 2,814 ft. The station sits about 800 ft lower than this place, so expect it a little cooler here. Source: NOAA NCEI U.S. Climate Normals 1991–2020.

The Fortress is a rock climbing area in Idaho, about a mile from Vernon. It sits among a tight cluster of climbing spots, so it can be part of a day that moves between nearby walls. For comfortable conditions, aim for spring or fall. Typical averages from the Boise Air Terminal weather station, about 5 miles away, show May highs around 72°F and October highs near 65°F, and because the crag sits roughly 750 feet above that station, temperatures here tend to run a little cooler. Midsummer is the hot stretch, with July highs averaging in the low 90s. Propeller Area, Table Rock and Bob's Nose are all about a tenth of a mile away, and the #17 Table Rock Quarry mountain bike route starts roughly 0.2 miles off. The Boise River lies about 1.7 miles away for fishing.
