Building Blocks - West is a climbing area in Idaho's City of Rocks National Reserve, managed by the National Park Service. It sits within the reserve's network of climbing spots, and the closest neighbor is Building Blocks - East, about 0.1 mile away. The area has eight routes, with grades ranging from 5.10a to 5.11d. The styles include trad, mixed and sport climbing. Among the routes are Acid Rain, a 5.10a mixed climb, and Technicon, a 5.11d sport route. The trad routes include Birthday Boy at 5.10a and Stereotypic Behavior at 5.10d. For timing, the most comfortable months are typically June and September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station run from highs around 75°F to 74°F. July is the warmest, with highs near 86°F, and winter highs stay around 35°F. Other climbing areas close by include Geowatt and White Wall, each about 0.6 mile away.
